In November 2018, we formed Band NOI. It’s a group of 5 kids who play 30 different music instruments. Through this project we work for the propagation of folk instruments and tunes of Assamese culture. The ongoing effort is being led by Mukunda Madhab Borah. The very young and supremely talented quintet have been performing around the state of Assam and even got the first prize at an all India level competition for group music

We are operational in Bhumi Center in Golaghat, Assam. This community initiative involves the various forms of Bhakti movement started by Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva. The village sponsors the education of the kids in Borgeet, Sattriya Nritya, Khol and Ankiya Naat.

As the monsoon brought flood to kolamua Gaon of Majuli, Hummingbird School sent 15 selected students for a 15 day residential workshop to NOI Centre. They were accompanied by 2 teachers and a cook. They all lived at NOI centre. The space became a dormitory at night and classroom during the day.  They learnt Folk singing, instruments and crafts from ropes. At the end of the workshop they gave a performance to an audience of Jorhat.
